England's Nat Sciver-Brunt has replaced India's Smriti Mandhana as the world's top-ranked One-Day International (ODI) batter.Mandhana, who scored 115 runs across three matches of India's recent ODI series against England, dropped one spot to second.Shemron Hogeweg of the Netherlands is in third place, while Australia's Meg Lanning retains her fourth place ranking.
England's captain, Heather Knight, moved up one spot to ninth, while teammate Sophie Ecclestone fell two places to tenth. Annabel Sutherland of Australia made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving up 23 places to 11th position after scoring 152 runs in the three-match series against India.
The latest ODI batter rankings, presented by MRF Tyres, has Australian opener Alyssa Healy still leading the way in the Women's ODI Player Rankings, with 761 points, while compatriot Beth Mooney is now closest to the former captain (744), followed by Lanning (707), Sciver-Brunt (706), and Mandhana (706).
Nat Sciver-Brunt's rise in the latest rankings is a testament to her stellar recent form with the bat. The England all-rounder scored 121 runs in the ODI series against India, including a brilliant century in the second match in Northampton.
For Sciver-Brunt, it was the fourth century of her ODI career, putting her ahead of Danni Wyatt (three hundreds) and level with the likes of Lanning, Mandhana, and Mooney in that category. Interestingly, despite Sciver-Brunt's new ranking as the world's best ODI batter, she still trails Wyatt (307) for most runs scored in the 50-over format this year.
Wyatt, who scored an impressive 129 off 125 deliveries in the second ODI, has 503 runs this year, slightly ahead of Sciver-Brunt's 496. The ODI batter rankings have seen plenty of upheaval in recent months, with players from Australia, England, and India dominating the top 10. Still, with the 2023 50-over World Cup less than a year away, there's sure to be plenty more movement in the rankings as players seek to impress their national selectors.
