A grisly tale has shaken Bihar's policing establishment, with officers shocked at the alleged actions of a woman and her lover after they found their way into a man's room before he died. According to the police, the deceased, identified as Sonu, lived with his wife, Asmita, and their two children in Madhubani district. On the day of the incident, Asmita invited her lover, Hariom, to her house when her husband was away. When Sonu returned home unexpectedly, the couple is alleged to have panicked and decided to kill him, with Hariom smashing Sonu's head in with a hammer. But their troubles were just beginning: Asmita and Hariom are believed to have had sexual intercourse next to Sonu's corpse, which was lying in a pool of his own blood, before cleaning up the scene and staging the death as an accident.
The Madhubani police have been investigating the matter and have arrested all three individuals involved. "I have been in policing for more than two decades, but I have never heard of such a heinous act," sub-inspector Ramji Mahto of the Raje police station told the Times of India. "Even if you assume that the couple killed Sonu out of desperation or due to some serious issue, how can they indulge in such an act?"
The incident has shocked locals, with many wondering how the pair could have been so callous. "How could someone kill a husband and then indulge in sexual activity next to his body? This is horrific," local resident Ramavtar Shah told the Hindustan Times.
The police have since sent the bodies for post-mortem and further legal proceedings are underway.
