The Congress party has attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for allegedly criticizing India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. The party has warned the BJP-led government of a "political allergy" to Nehru and his ideas.

At a news conference on Tuesday, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh accused the BJP of having an "obsessive-compulsive disorder" concerning Nehru and his family. He claimed that the BJP is obsessed with the Nehru dynasty and asserted that the nation should be obsessed with the BJP over unemployment, economic crises, and inflation.

Ramesh stated, "There is a political allergy to Nehru and everything associated with Nehru. Ultimately, it is an obsession with the Nehru dynasty that I think is pathological, which is obsessive-compulsive, really atypical of a national political party."

He further added that BJP ministers and governments across the country have been attempting to remove the contributions of Nehru from the historical records and rewrite history.

The Congress party has criticized the BJP-led government for failing to address the issues affecting citizens, instead of targeting the earlier administrations. The party has urged BJP to focus on working for the advancement of the country rather than engaging in needless controversy and attacks on former leaders.

This criticism comes in the backdrop of the BJP's recent victory in four states in the recently concluded elections. The BJP has defeated the Congress party in states like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, and Manipur.

It remains to be seen if the BJP will now refocus its energies on governing the country, or if this criticism from the Congress will prompt the party to rethink its agenda.
