Rahul starts well and often 'reaches a milestone,' says former India stumper Parthiv Patel, who praised the opener for his stellar show with the bat in the Test series against England.

Akin to his predilection for being consistent, KL Rahul started the ongoing Test series against England with a bang, scoring a quickfire 84 in the first innings of the first Test. His 508 runs in the series with two centuries and two fifties is also India's second-highest. This led former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel to appreciate the batter on social media.

The 30-year-old Rahul, who was elevated to the role of vice-captain, scored a majestic 109 in the second Test in Nottingham, which helped India win the match by 151 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. He also scored a crucial 81 in the second innings of the third Test in Leeds, which eventually helped India win the match by an innings and 83 runs.

The right-hander has been involved in a competition with fellow opener Rohit Sharma for a spot in the Indian XI. While Rahul is a more prolific scorer in Test cricket, Rohit is regarded as one of the best white-ball batters.

Parthiv, who played 25 Tests, 38 ODIs, and two T20Is for India, is currently part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
