Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has criticized opposition parties for what he claims is their inability to accept the numerous benefits bestowed upon farmers by the state government.
Reddy claims that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP) only criticize the government in order to gain political capital and that they themselves have done little to support farmers when previously in power. He made these remarks during a recent address in Nellore.
In an effort to benefit 97,471 farmer families, the state government has decided to de-notify dotted lands from the prohibited list. Rights to approximately 2,06,171 acres of land, with an estimated market value of around Rs 20,000 crore, will be granted to farmers, enabling them to sell or pledge the land as they see fit.
Reddy claims that past missteps by the TDP government had prevented farmers from exercising these rights for many years.
In addition to recent initiatives to support farmers, the state government has also distributed 3 lakh acres of RoFR pattas to 1.28 lakh tribal families, removed 35,000 conditional land pattas from the prohibited list, and issued 31 lakh house site pattas to women across the state.
Reddy stated that the government is currently preparing to begin the second phase of the YSR Jagananna Saswatha Bhu Hakku and Bhu Raksha program, which will result in the issuance of another 7,92,238 permanent title deeds to farmers in 2,000 villages.
