Former Kovur MLA Prasanna Kumar Reddy's house was vandalised by alleged supporters of the Telugu Desam Party after the YSRCP leader made misogynistic remarks against TDP MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy. The controversial remarks were made at a public meeting earlier on Monday, July 7. Prashanti Reddy, who was married to Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy - a TDP MP and mining baron - by blackmailing him, threatened to file a defamation case along with a complaint to the Women's Commission. The incident reflects a recurring theme of misogynistic language being used against women in politics in Andhra Pradesh.

The YSRCP chief, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, spoke to Prasanna Kumar Reddy over the phone to inquire about his safety and expressed serious concern about the incident.

Responding to the incident, TDP general secretary and son of CM Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh, condemned the remarks made by Prasanna Kumar Reddy, questioning if YSRCP leaders hated women.

Jana Sena Party chief and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan also condemned the comments, saying that it had become a habit for YSRCP leaders to make misogynistic remarks.
