In a recent development, Andhra Health and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has ordered disciplinary action against six senior government doctors for alleged misconduct, which includes unauthorized absence, bribery, and negligence that caused financial loss to the government. The Minister has instructed officials to investigate the matter and take appropriate actions pursuant to the rules.
The allegations against the doctors include signing attendance registers without attending work, issuing fake disability certificates in exchange for bribes, and causing financial loss through negligence. The Minister has ordered action against Dr. Indira Devi, the Medical Superintendent of the Government Area Hospital in Gudivada, for allegedly signing the attendance register without showing up at work for 22 days between January and March 2024. Dr. Sudha Ayyagari, Civil Surgeon Specialist at Yemmiganur Area Hospital, has also been accused of unauthorized absence without valid reasons for a year starting from February 2022.
The Minister has also directed action against Dr. Venkataramanaiah, Health Officer of the Nellore Municipal Corporation, for allegedly ignoring 44 hospitals operating without permits and failing to inspect 27 function halls. Dr. N Rajendra Prasad, Dr. T Ramamohan Rao, and Dr. Swarna Srinivasulu, Civil Assistant Surgeons at the Eluru Government General Hospital, have been accused of issuing fake disability certificates for bribes.
The Minister's actions aim to uphold ethical standards and professionalism in the health sector and to address any wrongdoing to ensure quality and honest healthcare services for the citizens of Andhra Pradesh.
