Nellore City Adopts Intelligent Traffic Management System

In an effort to address traffic congestion in the city, Nellore Municipal Corporation and police officials have decided to implement a new traffic management system. As part of the Pollution Monitoring Control Project, the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) will be rolled out at crucial traffic points in the city. The system includes features such as Centralised System Control, Green Channel, Cable Free Drive by Wire, Self-Adopting Control, and Multi-Period Control. The ITMS will be installed at various locations such as AC Vegetable Market, KVR Petrol Bunk, and Kanaka Mahal Centre in the city's first phase. The installation is slated to cost approximately 1.39 crore and will be maintained by the SPT network organisation for two years.

According to Nellore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Surya Teja, the ITMS will be implemented with minimal power consumption and will serve as an experiment to assess its effectiveness in reducing traffic congestion and improving traffic management. In addition, the police will be enforcing existing traffic rules and plan to impose penalties on violators of these rules.

This initiative in Nellore City is one of many that aims to improve traffic management and reduce traffic congestion, a common challenge in many cities across the globe.
