How a Historic School in Nellore Revived Interest Under an NDA Alliance Rule

The Venkatagiri Raja (VR) Municipal High School in Nellore, India, has reopened after a significant infrastructure upgrade, shutting down admissions for the current academic year due to an overwhelming response. The school, established in 1875 during the British era, had been closed for a few years due to declining student enrollment.

The upgrade is credited to the NDA alliance rule, specifically Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Dr. Ponguru Narayana, who transformed the historic school with upgraded infrastructure, digital facilities, and a renewed academic focus. Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh shared an image of the Admissions Closed board at the entrance, celebrating the institution's newfound success.

Minister Narayana visited the school on Sunday, announcing that restoration of the school is part of his personal commitment. He also announced that the school will offer free breakfast, lunch, and evening snacks daily, increasing the number of sections per class from two to three for grades 1 to 9, and additional support from Narayana Educational Institutions, including four additional sets of uniforms beyond those provided by the government, free bicycles, and bus services for students commuting from distant areas.
