Rainstorm Paralyzes Transport in Nellore

Nellore, a district in southern India, has been experiencing three days of widespread rains, heavy thunderstorms, and traffic disruptions as southwest monsoon conditions persist.

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon rains, which began on Monday, are expected to continue for another three days. It has inundated low-lying areas like Chandrababu Nagar, YSR Nagar, Sundaraiah Colony, Bhagath Singh Colony, and affected the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

Authorities have taken measures to drain the inundated areas and are preparing to provide water for agriculture in the region, which will benefit paddy farmers who are currently planting crops.

The monsoon season is crucial for agriculture in India, as it replenishes water reservoirs and sustains crops. However, heavy rainfall can also cause flooding and disrupt transportation and communication.
