Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has postponed his visit to Nellore amid escalating controversy over the clearance of the helipad, which was allegedly delayed by the district police. The visit was supposed to be for Reddy to meet former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy, who is currently in judicial remand facing alleged charges of a mining scandal.

The controversy is based on the rejection of the proposed site for the helipad, according to YSRCP leaders, which instead was suggested an alternative location overgrown with bushes and trees that would take a week to clear. Amid the numerous controversies with his visit, former minister Anil Kumar Yadav advised against Reddy's plans to travel by road from Tadepalle, citing recent controversies including a case being filed against Jagan Mohan and his driver and accompanying former ministers after the death of a party activist in Sattenapalli. Another case was also filed against former MLA Thopudurthi Prakash Reddy and the helicopter crew for misleading authorities and YSRCP activists for spreading false information.

The opposition to his visit continues, with Nellore rural TDP legislator Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, who won the 2019 election on a YSRCP ticket before switching to the TDP, reiterating his opposition. Nevertheless, former minister Anil Kumar Yadav assured that Jagan's visit would be a grand success whenever it takes place.
