In continuation of this initiative, the minister, along with Nellore Rural MLA K. Sridhar Reddy, inaugurated the Bayya Sarojanamma Lions Pinakini Dialysis Centre at the Government General Hospital in Nellore. The centre has been established with the support of donors Bayya Ravi, Bayya Vasu, and others under the auspices of Lions Club International Foundation.
Speaking at the event, Sathya Kumar Yadav highlighted the steps taken by the government to address the state's growing incidence of kidney disease. He commended the donors for their initiative in setting up six dialysis units in the Nellore Government Hospital and stated that the government would assume the cost of maintaining such centres in the future.
The minister's statements revealed that there are approximately 11,000 new cases of kidney disease in the state, emphasizing the government's commitment to addressing this issue. He also disclosed that, contrary to the previous government's claim of zero hospital vacancies, 3,000 hospital posts are yet to be filled. These positions will soon be filled, and the services of contract employees will also be regularised, he assured.
The minister's statements concluded by acknowledging the financial mismanagement of the past five years and the dedication of the Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, to providing enhanced services to the poor. He also affirmed that the centre is collaborating with the central government's Ayushman Bharat programme to effectively implement the NTR Vaidya Seva (formerly Aarogyasri) programme.
This highlights the broader public, political, and social implications of this shift towards improved healthcare access for low-income communities in Andhra Pradesh.
