Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has postponed his visit to Nellore amid escalating controversy over the location of his helipad. The former minister of the area, Kakani Govardhan Reddy, is currently in judicial remand over an alleged mining scandal and was likely to be visited by Jagan.

YSRCP leaders have alleged that the district police delayed permission for the helipad. Further, they claim that the police rejected their proposed site for the helipad and instead suggested an alternative location overgrown with bushes and trees, which would take nearly a week to clear. This escalated the issue and prompted Jagan to postpone his visit. The opposition party TD legislator Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, who won the 2019 election on a YSRCP ticket before switching to the TDP, also threatened to block the visit, further complicating matters.

Recent controversies have surrounded Jagan's travels, with a visit to Sattenapalli resulting in a police case being filed against him and his driver and accompanying former ministers. His visit to Raptadu in Anantapur district also stirred controversy when the crowd allegedly damaged his helicopter, resulting in it needing to be investigated. A pilot refusal to fly him to Bengaluru led to him having to travel there by road.

Police have since booked former MLA Thopudurthi Prakash Reddy and the chopper crew for "misleading" authorities, as well as YSRCP activists for spreading "false information" on social media. When Jagan's visit will take place is still unknown.
