AP and TS Pride: Nurse Valiveti Subhavathi Earns Florence Nightingale Award

Combining cultural awareness with healthcare, AP and TS pride themselves on Valiveti Subhavathi, a humanitarian who has devoted her life to public health for 39 years. Recently, she was awarded the prestigious Florence Nightingale Award in an elegant ceremony in New Delhi hosted by Indian President Droupadi Murmu. This prestigious award is a testament to her dedication and exemplary work in the healthcare sector.

Subhavathi, who hails from Sangam Jagarlamudi village in Guntur District, started her healthcare career in 1986 as a Health Assistant at Nadendla Primary Health Centre. She steadily moved up the ranks over her nearly four-decade career in public health, utilizing her passion for helping others. Throughout her tenure, she served as a pillar of strength, especially in rural areas, through health education and innovative cultural outreach programs.

She composed songs on sanitation and prevention of child marriage, which were adopted statewide by the Andhra Pradesh health department and broadcast on All India Radio. Subhavathi is a true inspiration for breaking barriers as the only woman from the Telugu states to receive this award. Her achievements were recognized through numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Andhra Ratna title and the Best Citizen of Andhra Pradesh in 2015.

Her humble and compassionate personality shines through in her work, and she continues to inspire thousands of healthcare workers. This award is a celebration of healthcare workers who render silent service daily.
