Nara Lokesh, TDP general secretary and son of former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has blamed the YSRCP government for the lack of development in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. Addressing a meeting of the Padayatra, a party interaction with the people, Lokesh alleged that three ministers had done nothing for the district in the last four years.
Although the TDP won only three seats in the district in 2014, previous governments had spent vast sums on development, he said. The previous administration spent Rs 4,500 crore on Nellore city alone and Rs 63 crore on the Kandaleru lift canal, which provides water to 16,000 acres.
Lokesh criticised the current Agriculture Minister, Kakani Govardhan Reddy, for allegedly being involved in multiple scandals, including illegal sand mining, land grabbing, and making illicit liquor. He claimed that the minister was guilty in eight criminal cases. Lokesh also criticised former Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav for failing to complete the Polavaram Project by 2020, as promised.
The TDP politburo member, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, was also in attendance, reminding the crowd of the efforts of TDP founder and former Chief Minister N TRama Rao to develop the area. Lokesh urged voters to choose TDP in the next elections to accelerate development in the district.
