The first Trupti Canteen opens in Atmakur Bus Stand Centre, Nellore, with an aim to provide quality food at affordable prices and turn poor women into entrepreneurs.

Self-Help Groups (SHGs) women will operate 700 canteens across the state, with each woman looking to earn 30,000 per month.

Dr. Ponguru Narayana, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister, stated that the State government initiative would improve their living standards and help them become self-employed, in addition to being a platform for SHG women to showcase their skills.

These canteens are part of the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) and the Smart Street Programme, with four women from MEPMA and the Sara Project partnering in Nellore.

700 canteens will be operated by nearly 3,000 SHG women throughout the state.
