Despite having a fiscal deficit of Rs. 16,000 crore, the Andhra Pradesh government continues to initiate ambitious development and welfare schemes to benefit the state, according to Mines, Geology, and Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra. Speaking at the Suparipalana lo Tholi Adugu programme in Kavali Assembly Constituency on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Ravindra laid the foundation stone for infrastructure development projects worth over Rs. 22.6 lakh. The projects included internal CC roads in Pattapupalem and drinking water facilities under the Jala Jeevan Mission in Thummalapenta Pallipalem, costing Rs. 44 lakh and Rs. 27.4 lakh, respectively. The minister also inaugurated safe drinking water facilities at Otturu, costing Rs. 55 lakh, and construction of CC roads, costing Rs. 25 lakh, in the same village.
Ravindra asserted that 95% of the promises made by the government before the elections had been fulfilled, including an increase in pension amounts and the payment of arrears to 64 lakh pensioners in the state. Under the Annadata Sukhibhava programme, farmers receive Rs. 20,000 per year in three instalments, while fishermen are provided with Rs. 20,000 annually during the fishing ban. The government has also taken steps to implement free bus travel for women from August 15, 2025, he added.
The minister's statements shed light on the state government's endeavors to continue fostering growth and welfare despite budgetary constraints.
