Nellore is set to get 29 new parks, thanks to a Rs 17 crore government allocation. The Nellore rural MLA, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, laid the foundation stone for 14 parks on Wednesday, with another 15 parks set to break ground on Thursday and Friday.

These parks are part of a plan to increase the town's green cover. While other plans include illegal occupations. Kotamreddy revealed that realtors continue to hold reserve lands they should have handed over to the Nellore Municipal Corporation, estimating Rs 150 crore worth of lands are in illegal possession. They have taken this up with the state government, and investigations will expose those involved in dubious land deals and reclaim government lands, he said.

The works on all 29 parks are expected to finish within 90 days, according to the MLA, who thanked the state government for the allocation.
