A tragic incident unfolded in Chennai, leaving 19-year-old Pius Davis dead and three others arrested in connection with his murder. The young victim was run over by a car on Sunday, 14th August, amid what police now reveal was a tense love triangle involving the accused.
According to reports, Davis was in a relationship with one of the three students, who are all classmates at the same private school in Chennai. The teenager was accidentally hit by the car during an attempt to intercept his girlfriend, who was riding in a car with her new love interest, the driver of the vehicle.
Further investigations reveal that the driver, Davis' classmate, is the grandson of DMK leader Villur Srinivasan, who is also former Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission chairman. The two were riding in the vehicle when Pius tried to intercept them, resulting in the fatal accident.
After hitting Pius, the driver panicked and tried to escape the scene, but passengers of a truck travelling behind the car noticed the accident and detained the three teenagers until the police arrived. All three, including the driver, have now been arrested and are in police custody. The DMK leader's grandson was reportedly on his way back from a movie with his friends when the accident happened.
The police are searching for a fourth suspect who fled the scene before the truck passengers could detain the group. The investigation is ongoing, and all four teenagers face charges of murder and sections of the Indian Penal Code for causing death by negligence.
