Indian Men's Football Team Appoints New Coach

After a disappointing performance at the recent AFC Asian Cup, Indian football federation (AIFF) has named Khalid Jamil, the former assistant coach, as the new head coach of the Indian men's football team until the end of the year.

The announcement comes after the AIFF decided to part ways with Spanish manager Manolo Marquez last month following India's poor performance at the AFC Asian Cup, which saw them fail to qualify for the knockout stages.

Jamil previously worked as an assistant to Marquez and has also managed Indian Super League (ISL) club NorthEast United FC. He is known for his versatile style and youth development strategies.

"I want to thank the AIFF for trusting me with this opportunity. I am excited to work with a group of talented players and help them develop and succeed. Our immediate goal is to focus on the SAFF Championship and build a strong team spirit and culture," Jamil said regarding his appointment.

The new coach has his work cut out for him, with the SAFF Championship looming and India's disappointing performance in the recent FIFA rankings, slipping to 146th among the countries.

However, with his experience and expertise, Jamil is well-positioned to guide the Indian team back to prominence.

All eyes are on him to see the fruits of his labour and to breathe new life into Indian men's football.
