Fake job scams are becoming increasingly prevalent, leaving victims devastated financially and emotionally. One such scam recently resulted in the arrest of a man in Hyderabad. The suspect, Ponnaganti Tej Kumar, aged 30, is a habitual offender with prior cyber fraud cases registered against him. The victim in this case, a 23-year-old student, was contacted via WhatsApp by Tej Kumar, who offered him a job with a lucrative annual package of 6.5 lakh. To make the offer appear genuine, Tej Kumar used a spoofed email resembling an Accenture employee's email. Believing it to be authentic, the student transferred a considerable amount of money multiple times as "processing charges." After making the payments, the victim soon realized it was a scam when the suspect stopped responding to his texts, prompting the victim to file a complaint.
