The Srikalahasti temple, known as Dakshina Kasi and famous worldwide for its Rahu-Ketu Sarpadosha Nivarana pujas, is all set for the grand 'Annual Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams,' which will begin on Monday in Srikalahasti, Tirupati district. The 14-day festival will start with the 'Ankurarpanam' (initiation) at the Lord Vayulingeswara temple and the hoisting of the Bhakta Kannappa Flag (Dhwajarohanam) at the Kannappa hillock. This will be followed by key events such as Nandi-Simha Vahana Seva, Rathotsavam, Teppotsavam, Adhikara Nandi-Kamadhenu Vahana Seva, and Kalyanotsavam, with the festival concluding on February 26 with Shanthi Abhishekam. Preparations for the event are in full swing, with all engineering and beautification works nearly completed. The temple trust board is constructing three important circles—Nandi, Bhakta Kannappa, and Shivaiah—on the highways connecting Nellore, Chennai, and Tirupati, aiming to make them prominent landmarks in the town, which sees thousands of devotees daily. Approximately three lakh pilgrims are expected to visit the temple on Maha Shivaratri, and over one lakh are anticipated to participate in the 'Giri Pradakshina' on February 22, according to Anjuru Taraka Srinivasulu, Chairman of the Srikalahasteeswara Swamy Vari Devasthanams trust board. He confirmed that all preparations for the Brahmotsavams are complete, with a 'Laghu Darshan' for all devotees during the festival and no special VIP darshan. The temple administration has made extensive arrangements to ensure smooth proceedings, especially for the 'Lingodbhava Darshan' on Maha Shivaratri (February 18). The temple has been beautifully decorated with LED lights and rangolis, while the 'Vahanams' are freshly painted for the occasion. The Brahmotsavams will be conducted in accordance with all traditions and customs.
