'Sheer Nonsense': Priyanka Chaturvedi Slams Kangana Ranaut After Her Bodyguard Shoves Senior MP

Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi hit back at actor Kangana Ranaut and her spokesperson after her bodyguard was accused of pushing senior MP NK Premachandran, calling their actions "sheer nonsense".

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, saw Ranaut's spokesperson issuing a statement following the incident, claiming Chaturvedi verbally abused Ranaut prior to the physical altercation. "We have never ever abused or used foul language against her (Chaturvedi). The truth is, she herself is seen talking disrespectfully and abusing Kangana Ranaut in the video, not the other way around," the statement claimed.

Replying to the claim, Chaturvedi tweeted: "So finally Sinha Sahib exposes these shameless liars. Who is going to believe their made-up stories and fabricated lies, when the video evidence proves their lies and deceit. This is the height of shamelessness."

In a video statement, Premachandran, who is also the deputy chairman of the Rajya Sabha, claimed that Ranaut's bodyguard pushed him while he was trying to calm the situation between Ranaut and Chaturvedi.

"I was trying to tell them that these people are all together, they are one. You also come and sit together, talk and sort out the matter. There is no need for any physical action," Premachandran said in the video, which was shared by Chaturvedi on Twitter.

The incident occurred during a parliamentary session, when tensions rose between Ranaut and Chaturvedi, leading to Chaturvedi snatching Ranaut's phone.

Ranaut, known for her controversial public statements, was expelled from the Shiv Sena party earlier this month for allegedly targeting Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in a social media post.

The fight between the two MPs has grabbed the attention of many, withCongress MP Shashi Tharoor stating that "ad hominem insults and physical violence" should not be tolerated in Parliament.

"We must restore a sense of decorum and dignity to our national debate," he said.

The incident is currently being investigated by the authorities.

Despite the backlash, Ranaut's spokesperson maintains that the actor did not utter a word during the altercation and was only defending herself.

"Kangana respects the Parliament and has utmost respect for the dignity and honor of the institution. It is shameful that a member of the parliament would physically assault and abuse a woman who came to attend the parliament and raise issues concerning industry and employment in Maharashtra," the spokesperson said in the statement.

The spokesperson also claimed that Ranaut had "submitted a written complaint to the DSP MP and security bureau regarding this incident and expects them to take appropriate action".

Conclusion:

With tensions flying high between Ranaut and Chaturvedi, the question remains of how this incident will play out and what consequences it may have. Meanwhile, Ranaut's spokesperson continues to defend the actor, claiming her innocence and disrespect for Parliament.

For now, the investigation into the matter continues, and hopefully, a resolution will be reached that satisfies all parties involved.
