Telangana Becomes a Global Life Sciences Hub with Over Rs 36,000 Cr Investment, Creating 51,000 Jobs

Telangana'slife sciences sector has experienced significant growth, with over Rs 36,000crore in investments from more than 140 projects in the past year. This surgeis expected to generate approximately 51,000 direct jobs and 1,50,000 indirectjobs, solidifying the state's global leadership in the industry. Telangana'sMinister of Industries and Commerce, Sridhar Babu, emphasized thegrowing trust in the state’s business-friendly environment, which has attractedinvestments from both international and domestic companies across the entirelife sciences value chain. This includes pharmaceutical manufacturing, R&Dcenters, and innovation hubs, reflecting the sector's continued expansion.

Tomaintain this growth, the state plans to introduce a dedicated life sciencespolicy aimed at streamlining processes and fostering sustainable development.Several major investments have been made in Genome Valley, such aspharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical facilities by KrKA and Laurus Labs, and acollaboration between Takeda and Biological E for dengue vaccine production.Other investments include new biotech and biopharma ventures, alongside theexpansion of established companies like Amgen, Zoetis, Olympus, and Medtronicin Hyderabad, which continue to strengthen the city’s position as a global lifesciences hub.
