Merger to Create Largest GCC Post-Acute Care Platform

Amanat Holdings has announced the merger of Sukoon International and Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center (CMRC), a deal that will create the largest pan-GCC post-acute care platform. The merger, completed through a share swap, will see Sukoon's shareholders receive 15% of Amanat's shares in CMRC, while Amanat gains additional shares in Sukoon. Hamad Alshamsi, Chairman of Amanat, stated that the acquisition of CMRC involved an ambitious expansion strategy aimed at growing to 1,000 pan-regional beds within three years, a target that this merger helps meet.

The new entity will operate 400 beds across four cities in the UAE and Saudi Arabia (Abu Dhabi, Al-Ain, Dhahran, and Jeddah), with a 300-bed expansion primarily located in the latter. Dr. Mohamad Hamade, CEO of Amanat, noted that the merger aligned with the firm's active portfolio management strategy, aiming to enhance shareholder value whilst aiding public healthcare systems by improving efficiency and reducing long-term care services provided by general hospitals.

Amanat anticipates the platform will fill a gap of 24,000 post-acute care beds in the UAE and Saudi Arabia over the next four years. Following the announcement, Amanat is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the rising demand and gap in the post-acute care sector in the GCC. The company is awaiting further regulatory approvals for the merger plan, which has gained GAC approval.
