(La Pine, OR) Last week, investigators with the Deschutes County Illegal Marijuana Market Enforcement (DCIMME) Team executed a search warrant in the 52000 block of Bridge Drive in La Pine as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged illegal marijuana grow operations outside of state licensing guidelines.
Led by Bend Police Lt. Mike Landolt, the team consisted of detectives from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team (CODE), and Oregon Water Resources, as well as Deschutes County Code Enforcement.
The raid turned up evidence of an illegal marijuana grow site, with detectives dismantling the operation and citing the owner, 50-year-old Aaron Loosli, for unlawful manufacture of marijuana and attempted delivery of marijuana.
Loosli was cited and released with a future court date.
The investigation revealed that Loosli had not complied with state guidelines on marijuana plants, but no further details on the alleged crimes were disclosed.
The CODE team, supported by the Oregon-Idaho High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) program, is a multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force consisting of police and law enforcement agencies from Bend, Redmond, Prineville, Madras, and Jefferson County, among others.
They have made concerted efforts since their inception to crack down on the illegal marijuana market in Deschutes County.
According to Lt. Landolt, "There are very strict guidelines regarding the marijuana plants that are allowed and how excess marijuana is distributed.
This investigation revealed Loosli did not follow these guidelines.
We are committed to enforcing criminal laws regarding illegal marijuana operations in Deschutes County."
This latest raid highlights the ongoing battle between illegal growers and law enforcement in Central Oregon, as officers continue to crack down on the unlawful distribution and sale of marijuana in the region.
As investigations and enforcement efforts continue, we can expect further action to be taken to address illegal marijuana grows in Deschutes County.
