Ogun Customs Commands 1.4bn Worth of Seizures in July

The Ogun I Customs Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has demonstrated its commitment to disrupting the operations of smugglers in the region, seizing items worth NGN 1.4 billion in July.

Among the items confiscated were rice, sacks of hemp, second-hand clothing, tyres, and three vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce valued at NGN 1 billion.

The command has been proactive in its approach to enforcing compliance, improved border operations, and stronger stakeholder engagement.

Comptroller Godwin Otunla promised to maintain this stance against economic sabotage, stating that the command would never yield to smugglers damaging the country's economy and security.

He highlighted the importance of collaborating with other agencies in fighting the dangers associated with smuggling.

The Special Area Commander of Idiroko, Ekundayo Willams, received the seized goods, acknowledging the sustained partnership between both agencies, and promising to continue combating smuggling in the region.
