BSF Narcotics Bust in Mizoram Links to International Racket

Drugs worth over Rs 75 crore confiscated in joint BSF, local authorities operation in Mizoram and eight suspects arrested.

In a major joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) seized narcotics with an assessed street value of over Rs 75 crore from Mizoram, and arrested eight individuals, thwarting an international drugs trafficking network. The operation, conducted on August 21, was carried out jointly with the Narcotics Control Bureau's Aizawl unit and the local Excise and Narcotics Department. It involved intercepting four suspect vehicles on the Aizwal-Champhai National Highway. Three plastic bags containing 50 packets of pinkish tablets suspected to be Methamphetamine, weighing approximately 50 kilograms, were recovered, along with three soap cases containing 36 grams of heroin.

The BSF said the seizure reaffirmed its commitment to fighting drug trafficking and working with sister agencies to stop such crimes along the vulnerable border with Myanmar. The successful operation highlights the importance of seamless coordination between various law enforcement agencies in disrupting trafficking attempts and combating the illicit narcotics trade.
