In a significant operation, the Kaithal Police have cracked a major narcotics supply network, arresting four members of a gang engaged in distributing intoxicating tablets. The police seized 23,600 tabs of intoxicants, along with Rs 15,000 allegedly used as drug money. The four accused have been produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
Police officials informed that the Anti-Narcotic Cell made the first arrest on August 21, appreching Vikram, a resident of Nanakpuri Colony, Kaithal, in possession of the massive stash of pills. After being produced in court, he was remanded to two days of police custody for further questioning.
During his interrogation, led by SI Balraj Singh under the supervision of Anti-Narcotic Cell In-Charge SI Rajbir Singh, Vikram revealed that he procured the pills from two other individuals, Jasmer of Arjun Nagar, Kaithal, and Sahil of Khurana Road.
Interestingly, Sahil had been previously arrested by the CIA-1 police in a separate case involving intoxicating tablets. The revelations spurred the police to further investigate and make additional arrests.
The probe went on to uncover that Jasmer had sourced the drugs from Gopal Kishan of Jind district, who had then obtained them from Pragat Singh of Dashmesh Colony. With this information in hand, the police swiftly moved in to arrest Jasmer, Gopal Kishan, and Pragat Singh, recovering Rs 5,500, Rs 4,500, and Rs 5,000 respectively as drug money from them.
In a statement, SP Kaithal Astha Modi emphasized the police's commitment to tracking down the drug mafia and promised severe action against those engaged in the illegal trade. She also urged the public to inform the police of any drug-related activities, assuring them of strict confidentiality for informants.
This is a developing story, with more updates to follow.
