Young, Studying, and Dealing: 5 Arrested for Operating Cross-Border Drug Cartel

Drug trafficking just got hi-tech! Police just intercepted a cross-border cartel that was using drones to traffic drugs. Unfortunately, five individuals, including a jeweler, were arrested and charged. The cartel was in operation from France, led by a Punjabi NRI, in conjunction with Pakistan-based associates. They were trafficking heroin and other weapons. Authorities seized 2.25 kg of heroin, Rs 1.05 lakh drug money, a modern Glock pistol, and a car. Surprisingly, the kingpin was Karanbir Singh, who had tried to flee to the US via the dunki route but was deported back to India. He later started trafficking while in France. One of the other arrestees, Pankaj Verma, was already under police surveillance for dacoity. The case under Sections 21(C) and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, has been registered at the Islamabad police station.
