After two months in custody, 57-year-old Kishor Pawar, the manager of a multinational pharmaceutical firm, has been conditionally released by the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court in connection with a case involving a significant meperedone seizure. The court ruled that Pawar must post a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and refrain from tampering with evidence or influencing prosecution witnesses. The case began in June with the interception of trucks carrying scrap from the pharma firm, containing multiple bags of white powder resembling meperedone, leading to the arrest of Baban Khan, the contractor, and his sons, alongside Pawar.
After days, 961 grams of similar powder were found in the godown of the firm, leading to his arrest. Pawar's bail was granted after his lawyers, Rohit Kochar, Abhaysinh Bhosale, and Nachiketa Goyal, argued that he was not named in the FIR, no recovery was made from him, and the plant only manufactured export formulations, not narcotics. They also highlighted procedural flaws in the investigation. This judgment grants bail pending reasons to be recorded separately.
The case is pending.
