According to recent reports, the Indore Police have made another significant arrest in their efforts to curb narcotics trafficking in the city. After seizing 516 grams of valuable brown sugar and Rs 48.5 lakh in cash from primary accused Seema Nath, the Crime Branch managed to apprehend Akash Gokhale, alias Gandhi, a 21-year-old resident of Dhar Road, Nagda Path. Gokhale was found to be in possession of 32 grams of brown sugar, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 6.4 lakh in the international market.
Officials have stated that Gokhale has a lengthy criminal background and has been involved in nearly half a dozen cases prior to this one. The recent arrest was made pursuant to the police commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh's directive to intensify the police operation against the Seema Nath drug gang and put an end to narcotics trafficking in the city.
The police have stated that Gokhale's home was searched after primary accused Seema Nath revealed during questioning that he was a peddler within her network. The authorities recovered the brown sugar hidden away under his bed. The police stated that they will question Gokhale to identify the entire network of suppliers and determine who else was involved in the gang.
The seizure and arrests were made under the provisions of the NDPS Act, and the police have indicated that similar operations against drug dealers are underway.
