The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office is urging locals to unite against narcotics with a Congress Park vigil in Saratoga Springs aimed at bringing awareness to the ongoing narcotic epidemic. The Overdose Awareness Vigil will take place at the Spirit of Life Statue inside Congress Park, kicking off at 7 p.m.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to partake in a Narcan training session, imparting critical information on how to administer the life-saving antidote that can help reverse the effects of opioid overdose. According to the Spirit of Life statue's website, Narcan is a safe and effective prescription medicine that helps counteract the life-threatening effects of opioid overdose.
The event is open to all Saratogians and members of the broader community seeking support, awareness, or information. Anyone with questions regarding the event or wishing to make inquiries regarding addiction and recovery services can contact Healing Springs Recovery Center at 518-306-3048.
With a hopeful message, the event's agenda reads: "We encourage you to join us as we spread awareness, remember those we have lost, and celebrate those who are currently in recovery."
The sheriff's office emphasizes that Congress Park is a natural choice of venue for the vigil, as it is also home to the Tree of Life Memorial, representing those who have lost their battles with addiction.
