Top colleges offering forensic science include the AIIMS Forensic Science Laboratory School in Delhi, which offers a Masters in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology; the National Forensic Sciences University in Gujarat; and the National Institute of Forensic Science in Hyderabad, among others.

Forensic Science Career Paths & Admissions

A career in forensic science typically entails specialising in a core discipline such as psychology, genetics, pathology, computer science, chemistry, or biology through further certifications and training. Graduates can seek employment at state-owned Central Forensic Science Laboratories or CFSLs, overseen by the Home Ministry. CFSLs employ forensic experts in several domains, including ballistics, biochemistry, genetics, and document analysis.

Admissions to forensic science programmes are performed through standardised entrance tests such as the NEET and CEED. Some institutions, like the National Institute of Forensic Science in Hyderabad, conduct their own entrance tests. Candidates are advised to check the relevant admission procedures and requirements at their chosen institution.
