Punjab National Bank (PNB) has become the first Indian bank to implement Clari5’s National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) Integration Solution. This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening cybercrime complaint management and enhancing fraud prevention measures. By directly connecting with the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), this system facilitates real-time complaint reporting, automated fraud detection, and better coordination between banks and regulatory authorities.
The NCRP Integration Solution is designed to streamline the reporting and management of cybercrime complaints. It enables seamless connectivity across various banking platforms, including Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, and ATMs. Additionally, the system supports future integrations for credit card security enhancements and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC).
One of the key features of this solution is Real-Time Lien with FIFO Logic, which prioritizes complaints to ensure quicker resolution. The Smart Debit Freeze feature automatically locks fraudulent accounts based on predefined rules, preventing further unauthorized transactions. Additionally, the system incorporates customizable whitelisting to safeguard critical accounts from unnecessary complaint processes, enhancing overall efficiency in fraud prevention.
PNB’s adoption of this technology sets a new benchmark in the banking industry by significantly improving fraud detection and security. The system’s automated processes enhance response times for cybercrime complaints while ensuring robust data integrity and reliability. Even during system outages, the solution remains functional, preventing lapses in security.
The success of NCRP integration at PNB is expected to encourage other banks to adopt similar fraud prevention technologies. This move aligns with India’s broader goal of creating a secure financial ecosystem, where digital transactions are protected against evolving cyber threats. With cybercrime incidents on the rise, such integrations will be crucial in maintaining banking integrity and customer trust.
The National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), launched in 2019, plays a vital role in cybercrime monitoring across the country. It serves as a central platform for reporting all types of cyber fraud, with a particular focus on financial fraud and online child exploitation cases. The portal also features real-time tracking dashboards, an automated chatbot for user assistance, and a citizen financial cyber fraud reporting system that connects multiple banks and payment intermediaries.
PNB’s integration of the NCRP solution is a forward-thinking step in the fight against financial cybercrime. As the banking sector continues to evolve, the adoption of such advanced security measures will be instrumental in safeguarding customers and strengthening the overall resilience of India’s financial infrastructure.
