According to Downdetector, which tracks reports of outages and slowness with online services, thousands of users have filed reports in the last 30 minutes regarding issues with the popular AI-assisted chatbot, ChatGPT.

The wave of user reports started around 11 AM EST from many countries, indicating a potentially widespread issue. Downdetector's heatmap shows the volume of reports from several countries and continents, with spikes tracking the onset of the issues. Readers in the UK, Australia, Canada, and parts of the US seem to be most impacted.

This news comes after ChatGPT parent company OpenAI announced beta plans for a paid version of the tool, prompting many users to refresh their feeds in hopes of accessing the new feature.
