India-based Job agency cheats unemployed of Rs 4.5 Lakh to work in Russia

Two unemployed men from Uttar Pradesh were lured with lucrative jobs and promised compensation of Rs. 20,000 each to travel to Russia through a local job agency, however, on arrival they discovered that they had been conned, ending up stranded without food or shelter in - an unfamiliar country amidst war and tensions.

The conniving scheme of the job agency which operates in the state of Uttar Pradesh was revealed after the two victims, Dayashankar (27) and Saurabh Kumar (29) reached out to their families and local authorities when the agency stopped responding to their calls, according to the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF).

Investigators said the men, both from Maharajganj district, were flown to Kazakhstan on July 1 and later taken to the Russian city of Omsk where they were forced to work as many as 18 hours a day at a local pizza outlet without any pay. According to the police the agency, "itton infotech private limited", has apparently cheated many other job seekers in the same manner and diverted funds and are now under investigation.

The two young men managed to return to India safely with the help of the Indian embassy and local police, but are still waiting for their money and an apology from the agency according to a STF official.
