Mumbai trembled in fear today after intelligence reports of a major terror threat to the city. The Mumbai Police have gone into high alert after receiving a significant threat from Lashkar-e-Jihadi, currently a relatively unknown terror group. The group has allegedly claimed to have smuggled in 400 kg RDX and that cars loaded with explosives have been strategically parked across the city. This is not all, the group also claims that each car is accompanied by a human bomb, that is, terrorists who are ready to detonate themselves alongside the car bombs, causing carnage of unprecedented proportions. The terror group claims that they intend to target a century-old mosque, a cardinal of the Catholic Church, and a Jewish community hall. The Mumbai Traffic Control Room received a WhatsApp message, warning of the infiltration of 14 terrorists and blasts across the city.
This is not the first time Mumbai has faced such threats. In July 2017, Mumbai was put on alert after receiving intelligence about threats to the Gateway of India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, and other landmarks from ISIS. In October of the same year, the city was targeted by a series of bombings that killed approximately 200 people.
The authorities are urging the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity or items to the police in order to prevent another tragic incident.
There is no confirmation yet of the authenticity of the threat or the credibility of the unknown terror group, Lashkar-e-Jihadi. The story is developing and we will keep you updated.
