One of the largest religious festivals in the country, the Poleramma Jatara, is fast approaching for the people of Nellore. It is a celebration that occurs once every two years, and sees hundreds of thousands of devotees flock to the temples of Poleramma, perched on the banks of the Penna River, to offer gifts and prayers, and seek blessings for their children. This year, preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and safe event.

The festival is usually celebrated in two locations - Venkatagiri and Kandukur towns in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. This year, the festival will be held from September 7 to September 11, and the eager anticipation of devotees is palpable. Everyone involved is working tirelessly to ensure that the event will go off without a hitch, with all the necessary precautions in place, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The district administration, as well as the authorities of the temple, are working in conjunction to ensure that adequate measures are put in place at Venkatagiri, which is expected to draw a larger number of devotees. This will be the first time that the festival is being held at Venkatagiri after the deity was installed at the Poleramma Temple during the last Jatara in 2020.
