Bullying in any form must be addressed and it's a positive thing that resources are being devoted to tackling the issue, but we can't overlook the more traditional forms of bullying that have been around long before the inception of social media.

According to The National Bullying Prevention Center, 26% of high school students in the US have experienced cyber bullying, whilst only 16% have experienced traditional forms of bullying such as verbal and physical. This would suggest that cyber bullying is now a more prevalent problem, but this isn't necessarily true. Traditional bullying in schools tends to be under-reported, and with resources being diverted to tackle cyber bullying it may not be adequately addressed.

It's imperative that education continues to address all forms of bullying and teaches children and young adults how to identify and appropriately deal with these situations. It would be a great service to the community to organize seminars or workshops that can help educate not only the children but also parents and teachers, to create a united front against bullying and raise awareness about the possible consequences of such actions.

We must not forget that our education system caters to a wide range of children, some of whom may struggle with even the most basic technology such as smartphones, which would put them at an even greater disadvantage when dealing with cyber bullying. It's essential to ensure that our most vulnerable are protected from all types of bullying and given the support they need to navigate what can be a very challenging time in their young lives.
