Delhi Police's Public Grievance Redressal System Amended

The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, recently reviewed the city's police force's public grievance redressal system and provided directives to improve their interface with the public. The force has created infrastructures to attend to complaints and quandaries at multiple levels, from the police headquarters to district offices.

Complaints are tracked digitally through the Complaints Monitoring and Tracking System (CMTS) module, enabling written and online complaints coming from various sources to be addressed efficiently. Delhi Police also set up public facilitation desks in 160 of its territorial stations to provide an empathic atmosphere for the public to air their grievances.

Specialised vigilance units have also been set up in every district to handle complaints against police personnel at the district level. The LG directed the force to improve public interface by training officers in soft skills.

The review comes as part of the Delhi Police's initiative to engage with the public and continue to provide transparency and accountability in their operational practices.
