MP Manickam Tagore slammed YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for supporting an RSS backed candidate for Vice President Post. "Jagan's decision to support Sudershan Naidu is a dark chapter in the history of democracy. It is a betrayal of the people and principles of Andhra Pradesh. The RSS and BJP's conspiracy to capture the top constitutional positions must be thwarted," he said in a statement.

The MP further added, "The BJP and RSS have captured every institution and now they are trying to do the same with the Vice President's office. Jagan's support to Sudershan Naidu is a clear indication that he is hand in glove with the BJP all along."

Tagore accused Reddy of neglecting the interests of Andhra Pradesh and warned him to not repeat "the same mistake the people of Telangana made by voting for the BJP and subsequently suffered under the BJP regime."

The congressman urged Reddy to withdraw his support for Naidu, claiming that a "pro-people" candidate should represent Andhra Pradesh in the Vice President elections.

Tagore's statement comes after the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) extended support to BJP-led NDA's candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh for the election of Vice President.
