Maharashtra is set to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 from the 2025-26 academic year, bringing significant changes to the state's education system. Key reforms include adopting the CBSE curriculum for classes 3 to 12 to better prepare students for competitive exams and introducing a 5+3+3+4 school structure, replacing the traditional 10+2 system. The government is also rolling out a credit-based curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate courses, promoting holistic and interdisciplinary learning. To foster a sense of cultural pride, singing the state anthem has been made mandatory in schools. Additionally, efforts are being made to enhance the quality and inclusivity of education through initiatives like geo-tagging Anganwadi centers, developing smart classrooms, and strengthening School Management Committees. A 100-day action plan includes implementing the State Curriculum Framework, verifying students' Aadhaar numbers, and mandating the registration of pre-primary schools with the School Education Department. These reforms aim to create a more structured, inclusive, and skill-oriented education system in Maharashtra.
