Robotics Development Initiatives in Telangana

Robotics Development in Telangana

As the youngest state in India, Telangana has been actively fostering a robust ecosystem for robotics, supported by prominent organizations such as Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The state is strategically positioned as a leader in sectors like Life Sciences, Aerospace, Defense, Space-tech, and Emerging Technologies.

The Emerging Technologies Wing of the ITE&C Department in Telangana is dedicated to establishing the state as a leader in cutting-edge technologies. This includes extensive efforts to cultivate an environment conducive to advancements in AI, Blockchain, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Drones, E-waste management, Electronics, and Robotics. Telangana has been at the forefront of adopting robotics for various applications, being the first state to implement robotics for initiatives such as IT policy launches, deploying semi-humanoid robots like the Smart Robo Cop for “Smart Policing,” and utilizing robots in agriculture and tourism.

To further promote robotics and ensure accessibility for startups, investors, and industries, the state government, in collaboration with the All India Robotics Association (AIRA), has initiated the "Har Vibhag Mein Robotics" program. This initiative aims to integrate robotics across various domains and sectors. The government has partnered with multiple stakeholders to establish robotics labs in rural areas and government schools. Additionally, Telangana has launched the first-ever delivery robot in the city, with plans to incorporate delivery robots into gated communities in the future.

Objectives

The adoption of robotic technology is crucial for unlocking a brighter future for humanity, both economically and socially. The objectives of this framework include:

- Creating a world-class robotics ecosystem.

- Positioning India and Telangana as a global hub for robotics manufacturing.

- Establishing Telangana as a center for global robotics R&D.

- Creating optimal pathways for robotics exports and imports.
