The armed search operation in the dense forest areas of Basantgarh has now entered its third day as the security personnel look for the three Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists. This comes after the terrorists were reportedly travelling towards Srinagar-Jammu highway when they diverted their route to the forest area of Basantgarh, located approximately 400 kilometres from the state capital, Srinagar.
Since the initial reports of the incident on Wednesday, the security forces have been conducting the search operation with caution, aided by the state police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
According to sources, the terrorists were travelling from Sopore, located in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, and were intercepted by the security forces in the Udhalpur area. They were reportedly travelling towards the national highway when they abruptly took a U-turn and entered the forest area of Basantgarh.
The ongoing search operation is being conducted meticulously by the security forces with the aim of apprehending the terrorists and preventing any harm that may be caused to the local population. The operation is likely to continue until the terrorists are found or more information about their whereabouts becomes available.
It remains a top priority for the security forces to safeguard the lives of the locals and ensure that the terrorist group does not succeed in executing their disruptive plans. Readers are urged to remain cautious and follow the directives of the security forces in the area until the situation is resolved.
