Amarnath Yatra 2025: Security Drills and Last-Minute Inspections

Security forces on Monday carried out extensive joint mock drills covering every aspect of the Amarnath Yatra 2025. The drills took place along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which is a key route for pilgrimage travelers. The move comes as the countdown begins for its August embarkation.

The elaborate drill, according to officials, aimed to assess operational preparedness and fine-tune strategies ahead of the annual pilgrimage. It simultaneously tested the security arrangements and contingency plans for any eventuality.

Senior officials from the police, army, and central paramilitary forces participated in the exercise.Representing all agencies involved in the conduct of the Amarnath Yatra, the mock drill was held.

Jammu's Deputy Commissioner, Anshul Garg, told reporters, "The mock drill is a part of the preparedness exercise by the Jammu district administration to ensure the safety of pilgrims. "We will ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place for the smooth and safe conduct of the Yatra this year."

The annual pilgrimage to Amarnath, one of the most popular Hindu devotions, is expected to commence this year in mid-August.

Last year, the Yatra was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the related nationwide lockdowns.

With the countdown beginning and the simulation excercises having taken place, it raises anticipation for the return of the renowned event that holds significance for so many.
