In 2019, Karbonn Mobiles experienced significant growth, thanks to its partnership with ShopX, which helped the brand expand its retail presence across India. The collaboration allowed Karbonn to increase its distribution footprint from 730 to 1,330 pin codes, resulting in a four-fold revenue increase in key markets. This surge in sales was driven by strong demand from both urban and rural areas, underlining the effectiveness of targeting diverse demographics.
Sudhir Hasija, Chairman of Karbonn Mobiles, highlighted the importance of having the right partner in the fiercely competitive mobile market. He stressed that the partnership with ShopX enabled Karbonn to reach the vital small-scale retailers who cater to rural India, often referred to as "Bharat." These retailers were able to access and order Karbonn’s full range of products via the ShopX app, which simplified inventory management with its just-in-time delivery model, requiring minimal upfront investment.
The convenience of this model was evident in ShopX's 95%+ fill rate, ensuring that retailers received the products they ordered, on time and without cancellations. This streamlined supply chain allowed for better demand forecasting and efficient stocking of Karbonn’s smartphones and feature phones, which had gained popularity in a market where many other sectors were seeing sluggish demand.
Amit Sharma, CEO of ShopX, expressed pride in supporting Karbonn's expansion into new markets, noting that their nationwide network now spans 24 states. Through the ShopX digital marketing engine, Karbonn was able to engage more effectively with retailers in regions like Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal, leveraging data, product videos, and exclusive launches to boost sales.
Under Sudhir Hasija's leadership, Karbonn Mobiles has embraced digital transformation and innovative distribution strategies, positioning itself for continued success in the competitive Indian mobile market.
