Nigerian Nationals Arrested for Drug Racket

Recently, three Nigerian nationals were arrested in connection with a statewide synthetic drug manufacturing facility, a crackdown that resulted from information provided by Kozhikode town police.

In February 2025, methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA) was seized from Annie Hall Road near the Kozhikode railway station. During interrogations, accused Malappuram native Siraj revealed that he acquired the drugs in New Delhi and from a Nigerian national residing there. The mobile phone records and bank accounts pointed to this individual, Henry Onuchukwu, and others such as John alias David and Okolie Romanus, as the masterminds behind the operation.

These individuals were traced to Gurugram, Haryana, where they were nabbed by the Haryana police along with six other nationals and 2.3kg of unprocessed cocaine. The drugs seized were valued at approximately 1 crore, with the Nigerians having no legal documents to reside or travel in India.

This crackdown is a significant step in eliminating synthetic drugs from Indian soil and sending a message to foreign criminals that India is not a safe haven for their activities.
