Cross-border drug trafficking organizations have taken a major hit thanks to a recently completed joint operation. The International Security Alliance (ISA), in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, helped seize a whopping 822 tonnes of drugs with a street value of $2.9 billion. The two-month-long operation involved 25 countries and several international police organizations. This is the alliance's second operation, and it stands as a stellar example of effective international cooperation.
Among the types of drugs seized in the operation were cocaine, heroin, cannabis, and amphetamines. The collaborative effort aimed to streamline the efforts of the alliance and its partners in countering narcotics smuggling. Through strengthened information gathering on new criminal networks and smugglers' methods, and enhanced coordination, the international community can proactively address the global issue of cross-border drug flows.
The ISA, founded in 2017 by France and the UAE, has successfully built strategic partnerships at regional and global levels to address common security challenges. The alliance serves to enhance operational field participation and strategic cooperation among member states to combat organized crime. This latest drug bust is a testament to the alliance's commitment to addressing global issues through collaborative efforts.
