Home Office minister praises joint EU operation to smash drug smuggler gangs

Home Office minister Seema Malhotra praised a joint operation with European Union partners, which has seized more than 66 million of cocaine, as the future for tackling organized drug gangs and people smuggles.

The minister for immigration emphasized how Operation White Night, which ran in September 2024 and June 2025, led to the seizure of over 3,300 kg of cocaine and 13 arrests, demonstrating the increased trust in relationships between countries and the crucial intelligence sharing. Such cooperation clogs the activity of criminal gangs, leaving no space for them to operate.

According to the Home Office, these drugs would have had a street value of approximately 66 million. The MP for Feltham and Heston added that closer ties in the future would have an impact on the smuggling of both drugs and people. Such crucial cooperation with European countries and beyond will help tackle people-smuggling gangs.
